What is the maximum weight or size a truck can carry?
The maximum weight a truck can carry depends on its size and specifications. For example, a 5-tonne truck with a 17-foot body is typically only able to carry up to 4 tonnes of cargo. This is because the truck’s own weight (referred to as BTM – Berat Tanpa Muatan) reduces the available capacity for cargo.
What do BTM and BDM mean, often seen printed on truck doors?
BTM stands for Berat Tanpa Muatan, which refers to the truck’s weight without any cargo. For example, if the truck has a BTM of 3,500 kg, it means the truck itself weighs 3,500 kg when empty.
BDM stands for Berat Dengan Muatan, indicating the maximum permissible weight of the truck when fully loaded, including cargo. For instance, a BDM of 7,500 kg means the combined weight of the truck and its cargo cannot exceed 7,500 kg.
What kind of insurance is required or offered for trucking shipments in a fast delivery service?
