The episode consisted of four songs which will include ‘Bol’, ‘Rangrez’, ’Sab Maya Hai’ and ‘Ujaalon Mein’ sung by the following artist Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Sahir Ali Bagga, Attaullah Esakhelvi and Sanwal Esakhelvi and Faraz Anwer and Faiza Mujahid.
All the performances by these talented artists in Coke Studio Season 10 were very powerful and melodious.
Bol by Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan
Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan performed ionic nazam ’Bol’ of the famous poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz directed by none other than Shani Arshad.Shafqat performed the song very well and did a very good job and impressed the audience with his dynamic and signature voice.
The song was composed to give the tribute to the revolutionary and intellectual poet and writer ‘Faiz Ahmed Faiz’. The song was slow and emotional and it brought the importance of standing up and speaking the truth.
Rangrez by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sang a Sufi song ‘Rangreza’ song.The music was composed by Sahir Ali Bagga. Rahat Fateh Ali khan creates magic with a fresh, new sound on the audience. His traditional soulful voice created an impact on the audience and was appreciated by the audience.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s glowing and mesmerizing voice takes the foreground to bring out the rang and dhanak of the melody.
Ujaalon Main by Faraz Anwer and Faiza Mujahid
‘Ujaalon Mein’ was the rock type sing and was sung beautifully by Faraz Anwer and Faiza Mujahid. The song is directed by Jaffer Zaidi. Music was very good but vocal part wasn’t extraordinary which made this one an average.
Faiza admitted, “I was really happy that I got to work with Faraz and Jaffer. Coke Studio covers so many genres but I wanted to stick to my genre and performing with Faraz on his song has been amazing. The song is soft rock and what I loved about the collaboration was that it was an equal participation. The song is beautiful, and I think everyone will like it.”
Sab Maya Hai by Attaullah Esakhelvi and Sanwal Esakhelvi
‘Sab Maya Hai’ was sung by Attaullah Esakhelvi and his son Sanwal Esakhelvi and the music directed by Shuja Haider. This song narrates a sordid tale of the depravity that is found within the realms of love and money. This song proves to be a soothing music for the listener’s ears and Sanwal also gave his powerful voice and won the audience heart.
Overall Episode 5 was one of the best episodes of Coke Studio Season 10 so far and was liked by the public because of its soulful music and along with the renowned and established artists!
